Hey hey! I have come up with a way to make the new Relay shorts pattern even more fun!
First option: just add bands instead of binding!
Second option: turn the regular shorts into bubble shorts!
If you want to add bands, the steps are fairly easy:
- Sew the side seams of the shorts, measure the length of the leg opening, cut two bands at 100% the length you measured and 2 ½ in wide. Sew the short ends together to form a loop, then fold in half lengthwise, sew it on without stretching the band. Done!
If you want to turn your shorts into bubble shorts (pictured here), the steps are quite similar and very easy too:
- Sew the side seams of the shorts, measure the length of the leg opening, cut two bands at 90-85% the length you measured and 2 ½ - 4 in wide (it is up to you to decide how wide would you like your shorts band to be – the one pictured here is 2 ½ in wide). Sew the short ends together to form a loop, then fold in half lengthwise, pin in place, sew it on stretching the band to fit the leg opening. Done!
Happy sewing!
Agnese
